White Mtn Primitive on Salvage Wood

Vintage Cupboard Door

"The Hackett House"  is my interpretation of the c1800 scenic landscape murals found on the walls of the Hackett House in Thornton, NH.  The primitive depiction of the White Mountains and the fanciful tree-like flowers rising out of the foreground are the things I like best about this painting.  "The Hackett House"  has a warm antique patina.  It is a great large-scale piece that evokes the spirit of 19th century paint-decorated walls in New England!

The original acrylic on canvas painting is for sale.  This painting is framed and ready to hang.

Around 1800, an unknown muralist traveled the backroads of northern New Hampshire painting scenic landscape murals on the walls of homes, inns and taverns along the way.  The colorful and primitive folk art murals on the walls of the Hackett House in Thornton, NH and the Littleton Inn in Littleton, NH inspired me to interpret and re-create them for the enjoyment of others.   I love these murals for their simple depiction of life 200 years ago in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  The beauty of the North Country and the White Mountains surely had great influence on this muralist.  Charming colonial homes, interesting trees with pears, and tree-like flowers that rise out of the foreground, are just some of the charming aspects to these murals. If you have a home in this delightful area of New Hampshire, or just love the White Mountains area for its skiing, hiking, and other vacation activities, these paintings will take you there in spirit every time you see them!    I hope you love them as much as I do!

"Littleton Inn" -- This painting is my interpretation of the c1800 scenic landscape murals found on the walls of the Littleton Inn.  The Inn sits at the edge of the White Mountains in the small town of Littleton, NH.  Re-creating this mural, with its naive mountains, rolling hills, and colorful colonial houses  was such  joy!  I love its carefree spirit and primitive style!   "Littleton Inn"  has a warm antique patina, evoking the spirit of 19th century paint-decorated walls in New England!
